Do you have a question? We have an answer!

  • Shipping

When will my tubers be shipped?

Shipping begins early May until end of June, depending on weather and handling time.

    What is handling time?

There is a small (and extremely busy) window of time for shipping . The challenging part is not just following the unpredictable winter/spring weather patterns, but knowing when we will have 7 (definite and consecutive) freeze free days (and nights), all along the trail from our farm to your home, all the while having your tubers packaged up tight for no more than 2 weeks,. We not only have to do this for hundreds of orders, but we only have a 6-8 week window to accomplish all of this! My family eats, breathes, sweats everything dahlias 24/7. Truly! It’s even in our hair!

What if my shipment is damaged?

Please contact the carrier. We ship with insurance and you will need to file a claim with the carrier.

Can I combine shipping with multiple orders?

Goodness, we tried this and we made loads of mistakes! Unfortunately, no we do not combine shipping at this time.

    Do you ship internationally?

Sorry, due to restrictions, we do not.

    Do you guarantee your tubers?

This is a big question. We are selling a living thing and we have to keep it alive, until we deliver it to you. We also need to provide you with what you paid for; a living, viable, intact, healthy, ready to grow dahlia tuber of a specific variety.

There are many factors playing into the arrival of an order; weather, shipping, time… The one thing we can do to combat all three is to package our dahlias with the most attention and care. We’d like to think all shipping companies are always on time, perfect with handling boxes, and never lose packages! But they’re not.

We guarantee that the living tuber sent to you will have what it takes to become a growing plant in your garden. It wont be perfect. It could have some shrivel or softness. It could be dirty and/or scarred by a pitch fork or a garden stake. It could be small. But if it arrives in a condition that prevents it from growing- ie rot or broken neck, we will replace it; If we can’t replace it, we will refund the value spent on the tuber. But you must follow our return policy provided in the purchase agreement at check out.

Viruses happen in the garden, no matter if it’s our farm or your garden. Viruses are common among all living things. We vow to our customers, we will not sell/ship a tuber with a known virus. Please follow our return policy if you suspect your tuber has a virus.

We guarantee your order will be complete. If you’re missing a tuber, please inform us right away. We will try to replace the tuber, but if the tuber is out of stock, we will provide a refund.

    What does “not verified” mean?

These tubers are priced at a lower market value because we haven’t 100% identified them or we planted a few rows pretty late into the spring and these varieties didn’t have the chance to bloom. This means we couldn’t verify our own label with 100% accuracy.

    What is an heirloom dahlia?

Oh we love the older dahlias that parent the newer dahlias! An heirloom dahlia, by account of some historians, is any dahlia older that 45 years old!

What if a tuber I purchase from you blooms into a totally different dahlia?

Mislabels do happen and its just as discouraging to us as it is you. Mislabeled tubers and return policies are tricky. We can guarantee that you receive what you ordered however if you keep the tuber (or now the tuber clump), this negates a real return. Our guarantee is some what of an honor system. We promise to do our best in delivering you the variety of tuber you are purchasing and if you receive a mislabeled tuber, please give us grace. If you enjoyed the flower and choose to keep the tubers, then the purchase is final. If you grow the flower and its appalling and you wont be keeping the tubers, then we will offer a store credit.

Return Policy

If there is an issue with a blind or non viable tuber:  You MUST email your concern, along with a picture; or if your tuber is squishy/rotten you must submit a video; all of which is required within 72 hours of delivery.  Any delay of communication and we will not be able to replace the variety or offer a refund.

-You must give us the opportunity to replace a tuber before a refund is given.

-You may be required to return the tuber upon request for a refund or replacement.

If there is an issue with a mislabeled tuber: We make every effort to label out inventory correctly, however we are human and errors do happen. If a tuber we raised and shipped to you is incorrectly labeled, we will consider the following beforeoffering (only) a credit or tuber replacement,.

Value:

Is the value of the matured tuber you received less value than the tuber you paid for. We will refund the difference.

-OR

Is the variety shipped to you priced more than the tuber you purchased? You’ve likely won! Our error is your reward.

Inventory:

Do we carry the variety the tuber turned out to be? We will not offer credit, replacement nor refund for a mislabeled tuber that’s not ours. Our buyers are also human, and also make errors, and we wont judge!

*Sadly, due to the increase of folks attempting to acquire refunds while keeping our (healthy) inventory, we’ve had to alter these policies to protect our small scale business.

We DO want your future business! The complexity of receiving one of our tubers but not receiving the correct tuber is unique to retail. We pride ourselves in our work and delivering what you pay for. We ask for your grace with our mislabel errors because we did, after all, still work really hard to create the mislabeled tuber you did receive and are keeping. We will treat each case uniquely depending on value, courtesy/kindness of the buyer, communication and the integrity of response. We will do what we can to resolve the issue together.

If your tuber grows with a virus: This is a tough one. All plants are susceptible to viruses in our field or your garden. If it developed its virus during transit (because we vow to never sell/ship a tuber with a known virus), we will replace it. Please follow our 72 hour rule. If the tuber develops a virus while in your soil- we can not be held responsible.

Limit 1 tubers: Please note that our “limit 1” request is clearly posted so that others have a chance to purchase a variety when we, a) have a small quantity or, b) we want to spread the love among more that just a few buyers. If a purchase is made, and this “limit 1” is not honored, we will refund your order in its entirety.
